Fred Rogers’ words, ‘When I was young and frightened by the news, my mother would remind me: “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”‘ have stayed with me throughout my life, especially in moments when our communities face hardship. They remind me that even in times of crisis, people show up for one another.
Today, our communities are navigating a different kind of disaster — economic strain, shrinking educational resources, and widening inequity. Small, independent businesses struggle as families tighten their budgets. Schools lose funding, teachers lose support, and students lose opportunities. These pressures don’t just affect the present; they shape the future of entire generations.
Far & Wide Neighbor was created to bring the helpers back into focus.
Our Mission
Far & Wide Neighbor builds a thriving future by connecting local businesses with educational initiatives that support children’s growth, curiosity, and long‑term success. Our model is simple and intentional:
Support learners. Support local businesses. Strengthen the community.
How It Works
We partner with local establishments — cafés, shops, community spaces — and host free tutoring sessions onsite. Anyone can stop by during posted hours, purchase a small item (like a $5 drink), and receive tutoring at no additional cost. Your purchase supports the business; your time supports your growth.
This approach creates a cycle of care:
Students and adults receive accessible academic enrichment
Small businesses gain consistent foot traffic
The community benefits from stronger education and stronger local commerce
It’s a model built on the belief that helping one another is how communities thrive.

About the Founder
I’ve always been driven by three passions — art, philosophy, and education . Behind all that, one calling, help where I can. Art taught me to create. Philosophy taught me to think deeply and question boldly. Education became the place where those two loves and the calling intersected and actually change lives.
My journey began in 2015, when I moved to Costa Rica to earn my TEFL certificate and teach English. I fell in love with the resilience of adult learners striving to build new futures. When I returned to the U.S., I pursued my Master’s in Teaching Speakers of Other Languages at USC, focusing on communities that are often overlooked and underfunded.
For years, I worked with adult learners, witnessing firsthand the power of community support. In 2019, a profound family loss shifted my path. I dove into childhood development and trauma, realizing how critical early support is. The whole time the question: where can I help the most? That led me into the classroom, where young learners reminded me daily of the beauty of curiosity, wonder, and growth.
But I also saw how often systems resist innovation. I stepped away to rethink how I could serve more effectively.
From 2023 to present, I led and managed a fast‑paced educational team, building systems, refining processes, and expanding community partnerships. I learned how to run operations with a startup mindset — developing programs, coaching staff, strengthening district relationships, and creating structures that allowed our work to scale. Those years sharpened my ability to lead with clarity, build with intention, and turn ideas into sustainable impact.
Every step of my journey led to Far & Wide Neighbor — a space where education, creativity, and community come together. A space built on the belief that helping one another isn’t just good practice; it’s how we thrive.
